And He charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

And He was giving orders to them, saying, “Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

“Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”

And He repeatedly charged them, saying, Be taking heed. Constantly be keeping a discerning mind’s eye upon, and ever be on the look out for the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.

Jesus spoke seriously to them, “Keep your eyes open! Be on your guard against the ‘yeast’ of the Pharisees and the ‘yeast’ of Herod!”
