For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: |
For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, |
For if those who are of the Law (of law) are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified, |
For those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, |
If it is the adherents of the Law who are to be the heirs, then faith is made futile and empty of all meaning and the promise [of God] is made void (is annulled and has no power). |
For, assuming that those who are of the law are heirs, the aforementioned faith has been voided with the result that it is permanently invalidated, and the aforementioned promise has been rendered inoperative with the result that it is in a state of permanent inoperation. |
For if, after all, they who pin their faith to keeping the Law were to inherit God’s world, it would make faith meaningless and destroy the whole point of the promise. |
For if the law party is to possess the world, then faith has been nullified and the promise has been made null and void. |
