2 Corinthians 7:12

Greek/English Interlinear with Strong’s Numbers

King James Version

Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
New King James Version

Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.
New American Standard Bible

So although I wrote to you it was not for the sake of the offender, nor for the sake of the one offended, but that your earnestness on our behalf might be made known to you in the sight of God.
New International Version

So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did the wrong or of the injured party, but rather that before God you could see for yourselves how devoted to us you are.
The Amplified Bible

So although I did write to you [as I did], it was not for the sake and because of the one who did [the] wrong, but in order that you might realize before God [that your readiness to accept our authority revealed] how zealously you do care for us.
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

Therefore also I wrote to you, not on account of the one who committed the wrong [the incestuous son] nor even on account of the one who was wronged [his father], but that your earnestness which was on our behalf might be openly shown among you in the sight of God.
Phillips’ Modern English

Now I did not write that letter really for the sake of the man who sinned, or even for the sake of the one who was sinned against, but to let you see for yourselves in the sight of God how deeply you really do care for us.
Williams’ Language of the People

So, although I did write to you, it was not for the offender’s sake, nor for the offended party’s sake, but in the sight of God for the sake of having your enthusiasm for me made perfectly clear to you. This is why I am so comforted.
