Greek/English Interlinear with Strong’s Numbers
1 Pet. 2 - Greek/English/Strong’s Interlinear

King James Version

For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
New King James Version

For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer for it, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
New American Standard Bible

For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
New International Version

But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it this is commendable before God.
The Amplified Bible

[After all] what kind of glory [is there in it] if, when you do wrong and are punished for it, you take it patiently? But if you bear patiently with suffering [which results] when you do right and that is undeserved, it is acceptable and pleasing to God.
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

For what sort of fame is it when you fall short of the mark and are pummeled with the fist, you endure this patiently? But when you are in the habit of doing good and then suffer constantly for it, and this you patiently endure, this is an unusual and not-to-be-expected action, and therefore commendable in the sight of God.
Phillips’ Modern English

After all, it is no credit to you if you are patient in bearing a punishment which you have richly deserved! But if you do your duty and are punished for it and can still accept it patiently, you are doing something worth while in God’s sight.
Williams’ Language of the People

For what credit is it to bear it patiently, if you do wrong and are beaten for it? But if you do right and patiently suffer for it, it is pleasing in the sight of God.
KJV with Strong’s Numbers

For 1063 what 4169 glory 2811 is it, if, 1487 when ye be buffeted 2852 - 2532 for your faults, 264 ye shall take it patiently? 5278 but 235 if, 1487 when ye do well, 15 and 2532 suffer for it, 3958 ye take it patiently, 5278 this 5124 is acceptable 5485 with 3844 God. 2316
