1 John 5:18

Greek/English Interlinear with Strong’s Numbers

King James Version

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
New King James Version

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
New American Standard Bible

We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him and the evil one does not touch him.
New International Version

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.
The Amplified Bible

We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice committing sins, but the One Who was begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him].
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

We know absolutely that everyone who has been born of God and as a result is a regenerated individual does not keep on habitually sinning. But He who was born of God maintains a watchful guardianship over him, and the Pernicious One does not lay hold of him.
Phillips’ Modern English

We know that the true child of God does not sin, he is in the charge of God’s own Son and the evil one cannot touch him.
Williams’ Language of the People

We know that no one who is born of God makes a practice of sinning, but the Son who was born of God continues to keep him, and the evil one cannot touch him.
