Mal. 2:16

King James Version

For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that He hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
New King James Version

“For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”
New American Standard Bible

“For I hate (or, He hates) divorce (sending away),” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong,” says the LORD of hosts. “So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”
New International Version

“I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself (or, his wife) with violence as well as with his garment,” says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.
The Amplified Bible

For the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment [his wife] with violence. Therefore keep a watch upon your spirit [that it may be controlled by My Spirit], that you deal not treacherously and faithlessly [with your marriage mate].
