And He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto Him, Thou art the Christ. |
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”” |
And He continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “Thou art the Christ (the Messiah).” |

“But what about you” He asked. “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” (or Messiah. “The Christ” – Greek – and “the Messiah” – Hebrew – both mean “the Anointed One.”) |
And He asked them, But who do you yourselves say that I am? Peter replied to Him, You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). |
And He Himself kept on questioning them, But as for you, who are you saying that I am? Answering, Peter says to Him, As for You, You are the Christ. |
