The Amplified Bible

And as for what fell among the thorns, these are [the people] who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked and suffocated with the anxieties and cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not ripen (come to maturity and perfection).
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

And that which fell into the thorns, these are those who heard, and under the pressure of anxieties and wealth and pleasure of a materialistic life as they go on their way, are being choked, and they are not bringing fruit to maturity.
Phillips’ Modern English

And the seed sown among the thorns represents the people who hear the message and go on their way, and with the worries and riches and pleasures of living, the life is choked out of them, and in the end they produce nothing.
Williams’ Language of the People

And the portion of them falling among the thorns illustrates those who hear it, but as soon as they pass on they are choked out by the worries and wealth and pleasures of life, and thus yield no mature fruit.
