King James Version

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
New King James Version

The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
New American Standard Bible

“The beast that you saw was and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go (some, he goes) to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth will wonder, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.
New International Version

The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.
The Amplified Bible

The beast that you saw [once] was, but [now] is no more, and he is going to come up out of the abyss (the bottomless pit) and proceed to go to perdition; and the inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been recorded in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, will be astonished when they look at the beast, because he [once] was, but [now] is no more, and he is [yet] to come.
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

The Wild Beast whom you saw was, and is not, and is destined to be ascending out of the bottomless place, and he goes off into perdition. Phillips’ Modern English

The animal, which you saw, once lived but now is no more – it will come up out of the abyss only to meet with destruction. The inhabitants of the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will be utterly astonished when they see that the animal was, and is not, and yet is to come.
Williams’ Language of the People

The wild beast that you saw, once was but now is no more; he is going to come up out of the abyss, but he is going to be destroyed.
