And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought Me? wist ye not that I must be about My Father’s business? |
And He said to them, “Why is it that you sought Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” |
And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” |
“Why were you searching for Me?” He asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in My Father’s house?” |
And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business (literally, in the things of My Father)? |
And He said to them, Why is it that you were searching for Me? Had you not known that it is necessary in the nature of the case for Me to be occupied in the things of My Father? |
And Jesus replied, “But why were you looking for Me? Did you not know that I must be in My Father’s house?” |
