For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. |
For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sins which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. |
For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. |
For when we were controlled by the sinful nature (or, the flesh), the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death. |
When we were living in the flesh (mere physical lives), the sinful passions that were awakened and aroused up by [what] the Law [makes sin] were constantly operating in our natural powers (in our bodily organs, in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh), so that we bore fruit for death. |
For when were in the sphere of the sinful nature, the impulses of the sins which were through the law were operative in our members, resulting in the production of fruit with respect to death. |
While we were “in the flesh” the Law stimulated our sinful passions and so worked in our nature that we became productive – for death! |
For when we living in accordance with our lower nature, the sinful passions that were aroused by the law were operating in the parts of our bodies to make us bear fruit that leads to death. |
