1 John 3:1

Greek/English Interlinear with Strong’s Numbers

King James Version

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
New King James Version

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
New American Standard Bible

See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it id not know Him.
New International Version

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
The Amplified Bible

See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

Behold what exotic [foreign to the human heart] love the Father has permanently bestowed upon us, to the end that we may be named children [born-ones, bairns] of God. And we are. On this account the world does not have an experiential knowledge of us, because it has not come into an experiential knowledge of him.
Phillips’ Modern English

Consider the incredible love that the Father has shownus in allowing us to be called “children of God” – and that is not just what we are called, but what we are. This explains why the world will no more recognise us than it recognised Christ.
Williams’ Language of the People

See what wonderful love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called God’s children, and that is what we are! This is why the world does not know what we are, because it has never come to know Him.
