And He gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet He promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

“And God have him no inheritance in it, not even enough to set his foot on. But even when Abraham had no child, He promise to give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him.

“And He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot of ground; and yet, even when he had no child, He promised that He would give it to Him as a possession, and to his offspring after him.

He gave him not inheritance here, not even a foot of ground. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.
