For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: |
For this they willfully forget; that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, |
For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, |

But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and with water. |
For they willfully overlook and forget this [fact], that the heavens [came into] existence long ago by the word of God, and the earth also which was formed out of water and by means of water, |
For concerning this they willfully forget that heavens existed from ancient times, and land out of water, and by means of water cohering by the word of God, |

They are deliberately shutting their eyes to a fact that they know very well, that there were, by God’s command, heavens in the old days and an earth formed out of the water and surrounded by water. |
