1 John 5:16

Greek/English Interlinear with Strong’s Numbers
1 Jn. 5 - Greek/English/Strong’s Interlinear

King James Version

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
New King James Version

If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.
New American Standard Bible

If anyone sees his brother committing (sinning) a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.
New International Version

If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.
The Amplified Bible

If anyone sees his brother [believer] committing a sin that does not [lead to] death (the extinguishing of life) he will pray and [God] will give him life [yes, He will grant life to all those whose sin is not one leading to death]. There is a sin [that leads] to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.
Wuest’s Expanded Translation

If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which is not in its tendency towards death, he should ask, and He will give him life, to those who are sinning not with a tendency towards death. There is a sin which tends toward death. Not concerning that one [sin] do I say that he should ask.
Phillips’ Modern English

If any of you should see his brother committing a sin (I don’t mean deliberately turning his back on God and embracing evil), he should pray to God for him and secure fresh life for the sinner. It is possible to commit sin that is a deliberate embracing of evil and that leads to spiritual death - that is not the sort of sin I have in mind when I recommend prayer for the sinner.
Williams’ Language of the People

If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he will ask and God will grant him life; yea, He will grant it to any who do not commit a sin that leads to death. There is a sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.
KJV with Strong’s Numbers

If 1437 any man 5100 see 1492 his 848 brother 80 sin 264 a sin 266 which is not 3361 unto 4314 death, 2288 he shall ask, 154 and 2532 he shall give 1325 him 846 life 2222 for them that sin 264 not 3361 unto 4314 death. 2288 There is 2076 a sin 266 unto 4314 death: 2288 I do not 3756 say 3004 that 2443 he shall pray 2065 for 4012 it. 1565
