Romans 5:16

Greek/English Interlinear with Strongís Numbers

King James Version

And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
New King James Version

And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.
New American Standard Bible

And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in (to) condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification (to an act of righteousness).
New International Version

Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one manís sin. The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
The Amplified Bible

Nor is the free gift at all to be compared to the effect of that one [manís] sin. For the sentence [following the trespass] of one [man] brought condemnation, whereas the free gift [following] many transgressions brings justification (an act of righteousness).
Wuestís Expanded Translation

And not as through one who sinned, was the gift, for the judgment, on the one hand, was out of one transgression as a source, resulting in condemnation. But the gratuitous gift, on the other hand, was out of many transgressions as a source, resulting in justification.
Phillipsí Modern English

Nor is the effect of Godís gift the same as the effect of that one manís sin. For in the one case one manís sin brought its inevitable judgment, and the result was condemnation. But, in the other, countless menís sins are met with the free gift of grace, and the result is justification before God.
Williamsí Language of the People

And the gift is not at all to be compared with the results of that one manís sin. For that sentence resulted from the offense of one man, and it meant condemnation; but the free gift resulted from the offenses of many, and it meant right standing.
