New Testament, New Covenant apostolic Truth is the biblical pattern for the church today. I’m not talking about the current “apostolic move” and their man made dogma but according to the original teachings of Christ and the original apostles of Jesus’ day. They were the original first century apostles who were uniquely appointed and inspired by the Holy Spirit to write Scripture. Ephesians 4:11-13; top indicates that all 5 fold leadership ministry gifts continue to be essential for bringing the corporate body of Christ worldwide to the fullness in and for Christ. However, because some of the giftings are ignored or excluded, or because counterfeits of these giftings are embraced as genuine, new winds of doctrines will be uncritically accepted. The “fivefold ministries” more accurately describe functions in the body of Christ than positions. Therefore it is important for the Truth revealed by The Holy Spirit to be our guide for church doctrine. False teachings will be exposed and the purity of Christ's original doctrine through the Holy Spirit will be handed down to the sincere believers IN CHRIST. God’s inspired Word will be the test of all teaching, and the church will be reminded that the Spirit’s inspired Word is ultimate truth and authority for the church today, tomorrow and forever.
Under the old covenant Moses was the apostle, i.e. the one sent by God with His authority and Aaron the high priest of God’s people. Was there a change? Yes. “For the priesthood being changed [from Aaron and Levi to Melchizedek], of necessity there is also a change of the law.” ( Heb. 7:12 ) Why would there be a change? The Old was incapable of accomplishing what only the New could do. God does not mix new wine in old wineskins. ( Mt. 9:17 ) The teaching of “the set man” is an old covenant Levitical Order that was done away at Calvary through Jesus Christ our Redeemer and only Mediator. “But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.” ( Mt. 2:6 ) In the Old covenant, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” ( Heb. 1:1-2 ) In the New Covenant God now speaks to us by Jesus who has received of the Father the promise of the Spirit and has poured forth the Holy Spirit into every sincere believer in the earth. Jesus now speaks to us and directs us by the Holy Spirit. That is how He functions as the Head of His Church. There is a direct connection or relationship through the Spirit. Yes, He still speaks and directs through men; but, it is not just one person but many that the Lord might use to speak to us by the Spirit. GOD tells us plainly in His Word that we are all priests. “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” ( 1 Pet. 2:9; top ) The principle of this dogma of a man “set in place” takes the head of the Church, Jesus Christ, and replaces Him with fallible man. AKA “The Set Man” with the result that Christ is out and the set man is in. The set man now becomes the mediator between God and the church. This set man “subtly” elevates himself as the head of the church instead of him being a member of the body of Christ.
The “set man” of the Old Covenant is no longer applicable to today’s New Testament sincere believers in Christ. We are all “in Christ.” Christ brings the church into Him. We cannot live outside of Christ. We are bone of His Bone and flesh of His Flesh. ( Eph. 5:30 ) The Will of God is in us. Christ “THE WILL” is in us. His will is made manifest in us! We function in Christ in us, the hope of Glory. ( Col. 1:27 ) We have received directly from The Father, through His Son. In the past your blessings came from the Father e.g.…From Elijah to Elisha (MY FATHER, MY FATHER)…and flowed down from Aaron's beard, no, not any more my dear brethren…..Your blessings now come from the Son (MY SON,MY SON) and flows to all the brothers and sisters IN CHRIST! (Read Heb. 2:11 in context and compare with Col. 1:15 ) Because Christ Jesus is supreme over all things, God’s Word through Him is full, final and complete and transcends all previous words by God [old covenant Heb. 8:13; top ]. CHRIST IN, set man Out! Absolutely nothing, neither prophets, ‘spiritual fathers,’ ‘current-day super apostles,’ ‘tribal patriarchs,’ angels nor Moses has equal authority with God’s Son. He is the only source of eternal salvation and the only mediator between God and mankind.
Unlike Jesus’ teachings, today’s self-appointed “apostles” - wolves in sheep’s clothing - teach a different gospel. (Refer to 2 Cor. 11:4 ) These hirelings (set men) now teach how they should be honoured – honoured above even that which Christ expected of His disciples! As a family of GOD, members of one body in Christ we should have equal concern for each other. ( 1 Cor. 12:25; top ) Spiritual gifts should not be the basis for honouring a person, considering one believer as more important than another. Rather each person (part) is placed in Christ's body according to God's will, and all members are important for the spiritual wellbeing and proper functioning of the body. Spiritual gifts must not be used in pride or for personal gain or self-exaltation, but with the sincere desire to help others and with a heart that genuinely cares for one another as families are supposed to do, exactly as designed by God’s perfect will.
Paul prophesied, “From among yourselves [the elders] will arise men [calling themselves “super-apostles,” “tribal patriarchs” and “set men”], speaking a [Nicolaitan] corruption of the truth of Christ’s way, to draw the disciples away from Christ and after themselves [and their doctrines].” ( Acts 20:30 – interpolations added for clarity of the meaning of the prophecy) Any man who insists that you follow him at the expense of your responsibility to imitate, copy, replicate, duplicate the life and likeness of Christ is a false apostle, false prophet, false shepherd, false teacher, false whatever. Seek the Shepherd as to whether you even need any man any longer. (Heb. 5:12) If you do, find out from Him what man (or woman) you should watch and observe carefully (and not just listen to lectures, “sermons,” from this one) so that you might better hear the Shepherd for yourself. If you no longer need a man to help you hear and follow the Shepherd (which will be evident to and confirmed by those others around you who hear and follow the Shepherd), then seek Him as to whom He would have you to be an example, an “original,” that they might copy. This is the work of the ministry that is the responsibility of the saints ( Eph. 4:12; top ) and not the work of some unscriptural clergy class. This is the way the 1st and 2nd century believers overturned their world and is the only true way of following Christ and God.
There is one body and One Spirit...One Faith...One God and Father of all, who is over all and in all. ( Eph. 4:4 ) This Scripture brings the point home. There can only be One Head, Christ Jesus. There can only be one body who are the sincere believers In Christ and there can only be One God and Father of all. This means that as a body/family of Christ here on earth there can only be One Father of the spirits ( Heb. 12:9 ), God our only Spiritual Father. Anyone hearing and obeying the voice of “another father” does not belong to the body of The Head Christ Jesus. They belong to “another body” and “another head,” the father of lies, Satan. Oneness in Christ means unity of the spirit that which cannot be created by human hands. It already exists to those who believe the truth received in Christ Jesus as the Chief Apostle and Christ's works of redemption which is perfect and sufficient. No other redeemer or mediator is needed to give the believer complete salvation. ( 1 Tim. 2:5-6 ; Heb. 9:15; top ) The sincere believer is to draw near to God through Christ alone through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Christ gave us sincere believers gifted leaders/shepherds (1 Pet. 5) to train equip and prepare the whole body of Christ to do the work of the ministry. (Eph. 4) Spiritual Leaders are to equip the saints till Christ be formed in them - not till they themselves are formed – in the believers. This is so that the body of Christ, every member including the 5 fold, are to be trained and released for multiplication, edification and growth, the living stones, the temple of Christ in order that we grow in grace advancing toward spiritual maturity and grow in all aspects into the fullness of Christ, thereby no more being infants no longer being children who accept every wind of doctrine. We now have the knowledge of the truth by which we can reject false teachings holding and speaking the revealed truth of Scripture in love and contending the faith in a spirit of love. The love is first directed to Christ and then to one another...loving God and loving your neighbour.
Many who are teaching this false doctrine of “spiritual fathering” and “set man” may be good and sincere people. However, they are sincerely wrong and must repent. There are also predatory wolves in sheep’s clothing who use this false doctrine to benefit themselves. Rather than pointing believers to Christ as their sufficiency, these so-called “spiritual fathers” recruit followers after themselves in order to extract from these followers the tithes, first fruits and offerings to do with as they please or deem fit, even if it means taking the tithes for a pleasure trip to Mauritius. They come up with a cleverly disguised “pyramid scheme” and a “more excellent way of giving” in order to swindle Gods flock. “For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” ( Rom. 16:18 ) They create this network and pay a tithe of the tithes to the “covering apostle” that produces a great deal of unearned money. For example, a “super apostle” who is teaching this doctrine may have a hundred or sometimes a thousand different ministries personally paying him a tithe of their incomes in addition to his salary as the “Senior Elder” of a large church. “Israel's watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep. They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain. ‘Come,’ each one cries, ‘let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.’” ( Isa. 56:10-12; top ) We can now understand why these “spiritual fathers,” “set men,” “patriarchs” and “super apostles” continue to preach and believe their dogmas. REPENT! The heart of God is on giving, not getting, and on serving, not being served. Jesus the perfect example. (Jn. 13)
Apostles are not ceilings (Top Ranking) that prevent believers from going higher; they are foundations (servants) that push believers up!
